Bryan Trottier spent 15 seasons playing for the New York Islanders. Born in Saskatchewan, Canada, Trottier has been skating since he was a child. Throughout his career, Trottier helped lead the Islanders to four Stanley Cup wins and was one of only eight players to score multiple five-goal games. With the Islanders, Trottier played the most career games (1,123), scored the most career points (1,353), the most career assists (853) and had the most assists in one season, with 87 during the 1978-79 season. Since 2014, Trottier has served as the assistant coach for the Buffalo Sabres, and in 2017 he was named as one of the 100 Greatest NHL Players in history!

One of the critical members of the championship era that saw the Islanders hoist the Stanley Cup four years in a row, Bossy was the only player in NHL history to score consecutive Stanley Cup winning goals (1982 and 1983) and the only player to record four game-winning goals in one series (1983 Conference Final). He is the NHL’s all-time leader in average goals scored per regular season game, holds the NHL’s third highest all-time average points scored per regular season game, and is one of only five players to score 50 goals in 50 games. In 2017 Bossy was named one of the ‘100 Greatest NHL Players’ in history!

Bobby Nystrom last played in the NHL in 1986, but the man who is affectionately known as “Mr. Islander,” remains one of the most beloved to ever play for the franchise. Where do we begin with Nystrom? He spent his entire 14-year NHL career with the Isles, netting 235 goals and 278 assists along the way. More importantly, Nystrom was a member of the Islanders ‘80s dynasty, when the team won four straight Stanley Cup titles from 1980 to 1984. The 63-year-old was a fierce competitor on the ice, so it probably comes as no surprise that he recently competed in an exhausting Ironman competition—which tests the physical and mental endurance of even the most prolific athlete!

Bobby Nystrom, also known as “Mr. Islander,” has once again regained the top spot in this most coveted category from another popular Islander, Mike Bossy. Nystrom was a key member of the Islanders dynasty teams from 1980-1984. He played 14 seasons in the NHL, all with the Islanders. During his career, Nystrom scored more than 230 goals and compiled nearly 280 assists. The 62-year-old hasn’t slowed down since retirement. He recently took part in his first Ironman competition, an exhausting competition that he completed in 13 hours and 50 minutes. As his opponents on the ice know all too well, there’s no slowing down Mr. Islander.
