Firefighters are some of the bravest people around — sacrificing their lives to literally fight fires and save others. Every city, town and hamlet on Long Island has a firehouse, and although Long Islanders chose only one to be titled the best, we think they’re all pretty great. The department also has an emergency medical staff of advanced life support providers who work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in addition to its volunteer firefighters and medical service providers, who are always on call. The firehouse, which now has about 120 active members, both male and female, responds to approximately 3,000 calls for help every year for fire and medical emergencies combined. Deer Park Fire Department is always ready to protect and serve the community.

Few services provided on Long Island are as crucial as the ones that firefighters provide as they save lives on a regular basis. The Bethpage Fire Department has been serving the community longer than many of its peers in other towns. It has been providing fire and EMS services to the residents of Bethpage, as well as parts of nearby Hicksville and Plainview, ever since it was created back in 1910. The department’s volunteer staff has also been staffing their firehouses for emergency calls within its 7.8-square-mile district during winter storms, with each of its firehouses having two crew each. They’re ready to respond at a moment’s notice to any emergency!

The brave, fearless, and reliable firefighters who make up Wantagh’s unmatched team have been protecting its residents for more than 100 years, This valiant group of community volunteers has grown into a top-notch force responsible for protecting one of the largest fire districts on the Island, some 13-square miles, including Jones Beach. They answer more than 2,200 calls per year with about 230 members and 20 pieces of equipment, ranging from fire engines and ladder trucks to a water-rescue boat.
